Teach Breastfeeding
If you are an IBCLC and are developing a plan to educate individuals at your healthcare institution or community, consider becoming an instructor for the Outpatient Breastfeeding Champion Course. We are currently accepting instructor applications from board certified lactation consultants or board certified breastfeeding and lactation medicine specialists with the following qualifications:
- Current IBCLC or NABBLM-C certification, with at least 1 year of practice post-board certification.
- Extensive experience and confidence in advanced outpatient management of breastfeeding dyads throughout the course of lactation.
- Experience teaching groups of professionals.
- Experience with telephone triage for breastfeeding and lactation concerns.
- Funding to teach the OBC course in one’s own community or healthcare system.
Requirements to Become a Course Instructor:
- Application approval by IABLE.
- Attendance of a 16 hour Outpatient Breastfeeding Champion Course.
- Attendance of the Instruct-the-Instructor course, which is a half-day event. This is usually planned for the day after the 16 hour course
