Physicians are often expected to manage complicated breastfeeding problems in their office, despite having little time and few skills to manage these problems. We discuss some strategies physicians can use to improve outpatient care of the breastfeeding dyad, including how to determine the financial feasibility of having a lactation consultant employed in the office.
